Amazon and Google Get Rid of Their Tussle on Video Streaming

Amazon and Google Get Rid of Their Tussle on Video Streaming

History shows that Google and Amazon have never been good friends. It is the case, at least as far as their respective streaming video services are concerned. The Prime Video app from Amazon has not really worked either with the Chromecast of Google or with the devices of Amazon TV. To go with all these, YouTube no longer formed a part of Amazon’s Fire TV since the latter half of June. Now, there is good news for supporters of both the ecosystems. The cold war between Google and Amazon is dying down and they are becoming much friendlier.

A spokesperson from Google told the media that the main app of YouTube would come through at first. This will be followed up by YouTube TV and YouTube Kids afterwards. It is worthy to take note of the fact that this is merely applicable for Fire TV devices. As of now, there are no plans for having an official app of YouTube on the Echo Show. Plus, there is no app of YouTube planned for the tablets of Amazon Fire even. Still, those devices can already manage to access YouTube through the browser of theirs. Now, this should mark the end of a lengthy, bitter relationship between Amazon and Google.

During the latter half of 2018, Amazon had begun to sell the Chromecast devices of Google. It clearly indicated that an improvement in the relationship between the two entities was coming through. Though the applications are not available to date, still it is quite evident that they would come sooner rather than later. Availability of YouTube on the Echo Show would have been ideal. Still, at least it looks as if they have stopped sabotaging the video streaming devices of one another.

Samsung Comes Up With A Response On The Screen Damage Of Galaxy Fold

Samsung Comes Up With A Response On The Screen Damage Of Galaxy Fold

Samsung has put out their official statement to address the reports of issues related to the display of the forthcoming Galaxy Fold. There are basically two parts to the story. Only one part offers real answers. First and foremost, Samsung makes a note that they intend to inspect the affected units thoroughly. In a separate manner, Samsung even went on to address the problem of screen breaking as reviewers had tried to get rid off a protective plastic layer. Though it seems to be a protector of the screen and feels as if it is quite a natural thing to try and remove, it should not be the case.

Reports with regard to the issues with Galaxy Fold had come up only days after review units of the forthcoming foldable devices made their presence felt in the world. Since that time, more than one outlet has reported problems with the device. Certain media agencies saw their review unit get to break up only after using it for a day. It was when a piece of debris had got stuck under the folding display and led to the damage of the OLED panel. Samsung is already warning the users against peeling that layer off. Still, it seems as if a much more robust warning could be needed.

There is a lot at stake on the Galaxy Fold. The company is trying to win its race to the market with the first ever mainstream foldable device. This might well be the only high-profile folding phone to get released in the United States for a period of time. It is still not clear as to what was the underlying problem of the Galaxy Fold’s display and whether Samsung would manage to rectify it before the time for launch.

Update From Nintendo Switch Allows Personal Transfers Of Saved Games

Update From Nintendo Switch Allows Personal Transfers Of Saved Games

Nintendo Switch has come up with the latest update. This update allows gamers to transfer personal saved games between systems. Till this point, one only had the option to move all the user and save data between Switch consoles. Now that is completely useless for all those who share consoles, who did not even bother to create separate profiles. This also goes to show that one can easily take the saved game of Super Mario Odyssey along with them in case anyone ends up buying the new Switch models Nintendo.

The rumours suggest that it is set to release later in the year. Now that is only if one feels that a much stronger Switch is worthy of getting an upgrade. It might even be the case if anyone wants the fairly cheaper and much more portable model. It would be ideally suitable for kids as it would be risky to provide them with a costly as well as a tough to handle model. One thing that users must keep in mind is the fact that transferring a saved game to a brand new Switch would wipe it away from the source system. So extra caution must prevail in order to prevent this from taking place.

The updated version of 8.0.0 also contains within it 15 icons for a new user, right from Splatoon 2 and Yoshi’s Crafted World. It offers people with the chance to set one’s region to Taiwan, Hong Kong or South Korea. Plus, there are a number of ways to sort out the software by the total time of play, the last time it was played, the title of the software and also the software publisher. Moreover, it even contains a feature to zoom along with restrictions for VR Mode under parental controls.

Sony Comes Up With Their Service of Hailing Taxis in Tokyo

Sony Comes Up With Their Service of Hailing Taxis in Tokyo

Sony has launched a service of hailing taxis in Tokyo. Thus it makes another major entry into the unusual transportation landscape of Japan. There is an app available. One can use the Minna no Taxi’s S.Ride app from today onwards, which can allow users to not use regular taxis. People can make payments through cash, credit card or by way of a digital wallet that is powered by the digital wallet. The S in S.Ride does not stand for Sony.

A press release clearly describes the service to be simple, smart and extremely speedy. Sony says that S.Ride makes use of AI technology to predict if demand would be the highest and accordingly go ahead in dispatching drivers. Last year, Minna no Taxi Corporation was formed by Sony Payment Services, Sony Corp along with six taxi companies. Though, the names of only five companies are mentioned in the press release. The names include the likes of Kokusai and Daiwa, which happens to be two of the biggest operators in Tokyo. Sony has said that the total size of the fleet would go beyond 10,000 cars.

S.Ride is not the first application of its kind in Japan. The dominant chat app, Line had launched a similar type of collaboration. Their collaboration happened to be with leading taxi company Nihon Kotsu back in the year 2015. Unfortunately, their service had come to an end in the year 2018. There is a bigger competitor, which happens to be in to give stiff competition to S.Ride. Now that competitor would be Japan Taxi. This is an application run by Ichiro Kawanabe, the CEO and Chairman of the taxi federation of Japan, Nihon Kotsu. Uber happens to be a small player in Japan. It offers only premium black cars in Tokyo.

Skype Includes Screen Sharing Feature To Their Android And iOS Apps

Skype Includes Screen Sharing Feature To Their Android And iOS Apps

Skype is getting their attention turned towards mobile. Their latest beta feature adds up screen sharing to their Android and iOS apps. It might not seem to be as significant as some of the recent iterations for Skype. The recent iterations include group calls for 50 people and background blur effect in video calls. Still, it provides workers as well as friends another reason to remain locked in the application.

Microsoft feels that people would use this feature of screen share to show even a colleague one’s presentation in PowerPoint. People could also swipe through Tinder with the help of a BFF. It also allows Skype to remain apart from their biggest rivals, including Messenger, Snapchat and WhatsApp. They all lack this particular feature. Their absence on larger platforms has let smaller applications, which offer mobile screen sharing similar to Squad, to fill up the spot that has remained vacant. Though there are a whole lot of other options available still there are none, which gets used widely like Skype. Plus, it allows people to make calls and moreover, the calls are absolutely free. In addition to this, the cross-platform feature of Skype clearly means that people would be able to share the screen with all those who use MacOS, Windows or iOS. Hence, this makes it even more relevant.

Now, before this feature became available on a widespread basis, it will only remain confined to one particular thing. The feature will only be available in the preview build of the app. One can easily try this one out in version 8.43.76.38. Anyone can download this version from APK Mirror. This is indeed a shame that Google is still not allowing people to do that with Duo, especially when it is gaining a lot of popularity.
